They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between. Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It was written, “JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” John 19:17-19
Dear Jesus,
Today is a dark day as we think about You, our precious Savior, being beaten and crucified. But it is also a bright day, as we meditate on Your humble obedience to Your Father and Your love for us that took You to the cross. For it is by Your wounds that we are healed. And it is because of Your death on the cross that we can die to sin and live to You! Thank You for this incredible gift. Lord, I do not have the words to say what Your substitutionary death means to me, but I bow my knees in thankfulness and praise. Because of your death, I live.
Amen.
