40 Days of Prayer: Day 30

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. Romans 5:12-14

Lord,

These verses show a pretty depressing picture of the state of fallible humans. Sin entered the world through one man, Adam, and that's what separates man from You. Sin brings about death. Because Adam sinned, death reigned in the world. This would be so discouraging, Lord, but we know what verses come next. We know that You had a plan, from Genesis 3:15, to redeem Your people and bring Hope into the world. Even as sin reigns in our world today, Lord, I am thankful that there is Hope - You offer forgiveness through Your Son for those who believe. Thank You.
