40 Days of Prayer: Day 26

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. II Timothy 4:1-5

Dear Lord,

Today I pray for all those who are preaching Your word. I pray for the pastors who deliver Your word to congregations each week, for missionaries in their fields, for teachers and for individuals ministering to others. Lord, help them to abide by these verses. I pray that they would be prepared to preach the gospel in season and out of season, that they would not merely tickle ears with their words, but that they would remain true to Your holy word and call the people of this nation and world to holy living. Lord, I pray for those hearing the word, that You would open their ears and their hearts and their minds. That through the preaching of Your word, You would convict them of sin and bring them to repentance. That You would use Your word as it is preached to draw people closer to You. Lord, give pastors the energy and the enthusiasm and the desire to fulfill their ministry, for Your glory.

In Your Name,
Amen.
