For the Beauty of the Earth

Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory. Isaiah 6:3

I have the privilege of working somewhere that showcases God’s beauty in creation every day of the year. And today I am overwhelmed as I have just come inside from walking around that space and seeing so many beautiful plants, flowers and trees that are coming to life and pointing to God’s glory.

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16

I so agree with Paul who says that even if men have not heard the word of God, they will be without excuse if they have not acknowledged Him, because all of creation points to the Creator.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20

God’s power and His divine nature are clearly seen in our world today. Lord of all, to Thee we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise!

Today I am overwhelmed with the beauty of God’s creation on land, but this hymn exhorts us to praise Him also for the sun, moon, and stars of night. Isaiah tells us that He keeps the stars in their place by the strength of His power.

Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26

Each gift is freely given – the Lord is faithful to bestow each perfect gift, including grace divine. Lord of all, to thee we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise.

Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created. Rev. 4:11

For the Beauty of the Earth

Words by Folliot S. Pierpoint

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.

Refrain
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the beauty of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light.

For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind’s delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild.

For each perfect gift of Thine,
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flowers of earth and buds of Heaven.

I always get overwhelmed when I think about the beauty and majesty of God's creation and my part in in it. This post spoke to me today.
