We have so many reasons to praise! God, our Savior, Redeemer and Friend, the King of Heaven is worthy of our praise. This hymn just starts to scratch the surface of the many reasons we have to praise the Lord.
Through Christ’s work on the cross, you are ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven.
…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28
and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. I Peter 2:24
So the crowd marveled as they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Matthew 15:31
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14
God has shown great grace and favor to our ancestors, and to us. He certainly is slow to chide and quick to bless.
But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. Psalm 86:15
Need another reason? God is glorious in faithfulness.
For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
He saved us not according to what we have done, but according to His wide mercy.
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3:5-6
We are born, live, die. We are fickle, we change our minds. God does not. He stays the same. I praise Him for that. I praise Him that the same God who made a covenant with Abraham, who chose David as the King of Israel, who met Saul on the road to Damascus, is the same God who relates to me! He does not change.
For I, the LORD, do not change. Malachi 3:6
We certainly have a lot to praise God for. I hope you will join me in praising Him today.
Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven
Words by Henry F. Lyte
Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven;
To His feet thy tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Evermore His praises sing:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King.
Praise Him for His grace and favor
To our fathers in distress.
Praise Him still the same as ever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Glorious in His faithfulness.
Fatherlike He tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame He knows.
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Widely yet His mercy flows.
Frail as summer’s flower we flourish,
Blows the wind and it is gone;
But while mortals rise and perish
Our God lives unchanging on,
Praise Him, Praise Him, Hallelujah
Praise the High Eternal One!
Angels, help us to adore Him;
Ye behold Him face to face;
Sun and moon, bow down before Him,
Dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace.
