Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine!

I’ve been doing some pretty deep reading in the last day or two about different theological “camps” and have been thinking about what it all means. Many things that I’ve read have led me to think and ponder what I believe and why. It’s all a bit mind-boggling, honestly. As I was sitting here thinking about it, I suddenly thought “Jesus is mine.” That’s what matters. These are the beautiful truths that I am convinced of:

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. I Cor. 15:3-5

He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Col. 1:13-14

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Eph. 2:8

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
I John 1:6-7

Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? I Cor. 3:16

I have the blessed assurance that Jesus is mine – I have been purchased by Him, washed in His blood, filled with His spirit.

That’s my story. That’s my song.

And for that, I will definitely praise the Savior all the day long!

Blessed Assurance
Words by Fannie Crosby

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Great post, Sara! Have just posted the Carnival up; added you in.

Where in Northumberland were you? I lived near Amble, now in Newcastle but itching to move back out. It has a very simple beauty!
